There is an open position at the University of Central Oklahoma in the College of Mathematics and Science that will support and coordinate technical computing needs in the College and the newly formed Center for Research and Education in Interdisciplinary Computation (CREIC).

- Provides immediate on-site support to faculty, staff, and students.
- Provides multimedia and technology training to faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Evaluates, recommends, and coordinates the purchase of hardware and software. Maintains hardware and software inventories.
- Troubleshoots hardware problems.
- Performs repairs and maintenance on computer equipment and various other types of equipment.
- Monitors, evaluates, and recommends emerging technologies.
- Manages scheduling, delivery, maintenance, and care of the equipment resources. May train?and supervise staff and students. Works under limited supervision.
- Coordinates design, installation and management of CM&S student, computer laboratories, and faculty computers.
- Supervises and instructs full time support technicians in the maintenance of computers and peripherals (including projectors, printers, and any ancillary devices connected to computers) within the College of Mathematics & Science and instructs them on the policies and procedures of the University of Central Oklahoma.
- Coordinates hiring, scheduling, evaluation and supervision College STF Student Technicians in maintaining computer laboratory equipment, troubleshooting problems and performing hardware and software repair.
- Maintains faculty computer equipment, trouble shooting problems, and hardware and software repair.
- Collaborates with and is the Liaison with the UCO Office of Information Technology regarding the development and implementation of computer laboratory policies and procedures that ensure security of the computer lab equipment, keeps the college software updated or removed to meet the University software licenses or agreements, and has full responsibility for
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees and maintains the college?s local area network to ensure utilization of university networking principles and techniques.
- Coordinates with faculty and support staff to facilitate research activities related to grant sources inside and outside of the university and to provide technical expertise and/or equipment related to research, student instruction, and other scholarly activities.
- Facilitates communication between the Dean?s office and the various departments related to issues concerning information technology and coordinates with various agencies across the University to facilitate compliance with any policies or procedures related to information technology.
- Oversees all aspects of the informational and technical services within the College of Mathematics & Science.
- Attends University Technology Support training workshops, discussions and meetings.
- Develops and maintains an inventory system of tracking the college?s computer software and equipment; prepares reports on the status of inventory as requested.
- Provides information and/or technical assistance to college faculty/staff concerning hardware and software utilization or for resolution of special problems on an as needed basis.
- Coordinates departmental and college purchase of new software, computer, and audiovisual equipment.
- Maintains and evaluates software contractual agreements.
- Prepares and presents computer in-services.
- Updates the CM&S Associate Dean as needed.
- Proactively determines faculty software and hardware needs in alignment with the College?s emphasis on computational teaching and research.
- Works constructively with the Director of the Center for Research and Education in Interdisciplinary Computation (CREIC) to meet existing and develop new College computational and high performance resources necessary to meet the needs of student-centered training and research.
- Proactively plans with the Deans for a student-centered computational center.?
- Provides support and training to faculty and students of the College in the area of computational student-centered research.
- Responsible for the repair and recovery from hardware and software failures on College computers, including coordinating and communicating actions with affected individuals, classes, and/or departments.
- Applies OS patches and upgrades to servers on a monthly basis. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor?s degree in computer science, MIS, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three to five years of recent technical support experience with Windows (XP or higher) computers and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience troubleshooting and performing computer maintenance and minor repairs.
- Knowledge of audio/video technology applicable to modern classrooms. Experience operating professional audio/video equipment in an auditorium or similar large-scale setting.
Preferred:
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook/Exchange, Windows servers (including virtualization of client and server machines), Active Directory and Group Policy, scripting, deployment software, LINUX/UNIX, backup software, Apple Macintosh-based computers, and network printers.?
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).?
- Experience in supporting computational software and hardware or high performance computing systems.?
- Supervisory experience.
Salary: $46,985 ? $49,721 annually
